This original Triple Bridge straddles the Ljubljanica river. The main bridge was built in 1820 to replace a wooden bridge. The two additional pedestrian bridges were added in 1920 by the architect Plecnik. The work of this architect had a strong influence on the city. The square is home to the statue of the great poet France Preseren, the Franciscan church and the Hauptman house. After the earthquake of 1895 Austria paid to rebuild the bridge, which it thought had been destroyed. These funds made it possible to enlarge the bridge.
Get a bird's eye view of the city by flying over it in a hot-air balloon. If you do not suffer from vertigo you can book the unique experience by calling in at the tourist office on Krekov Trg.
